Flower girl and ring bearer attire expenses

I asked my cousin if her son and daughter could be the flower girl and ring bearer in my wedding. She accepted and now 8 months later is telling me I need to pay for her childrens' clothes and accessories. My wedding is on a very tight budget and my family cannot afford to pay for their outfits. She is saying it is customary for the bride's family to pay for their expenses which I know is not typical. So my question is how do I tell her my family will not pay and that she will need to pick up the expenses.

It is the responsibilty of the parents of the children (ring bearer or flower girl) to purchase their clothing. You'll just have to gently tell her that this is the etiquette and what you expected when you asked her children to participate.
