Asking MOG to wear certain colours?

My fiance's family is very non-traditional when it comes to weddings. His sister got married in Las Vegas. Our wedding is more traditional, and I'd like to have a say in her attire, but don't know if first; I'm suppose to, and second; how to approach her about this.

It's the mother of the groom's choice of what to wear. She takes her cues from the mother of the bride, following formality and choosing a color that is complimentary. You can suggest colors and styles, sure, but you cannot insist she select something that suits your taste. If she wears something you find distasteful then she'll just be embarrassing herself.

Thank you for your advice.
My mother will not be attending the wedding.
