I did a search on this and didn't find an answer. June wedding, bridesmaids are wearing strapless tea length silk dupioni dresses, slate blue. I (MOB) would like to wear a long dress also in silk dupioni but in periwinkle. My dress would have a portrait collar and three quarter length sleeves.
Is it proper for the MOB's dress to match the same fabric as the bridesmaids? The colors are both in the blue family, but very different. The dresses themselves are very different also.

I see absolutely no problem: your dress sounds gorgeous and the color and cut are totally different from the bridesmaids'. I agree. It sounds like your dress is very different and couldn't be confused with theirs.
