HI, I purchased a black dress for my daughters wedding in June. Well, I just found out yesterday that the MOG is making herself a black and white dress. I am not exactly sure how the dress looks but now am not sure if I can also wear black. I know the MOB & MOG dress should compliment each other but I think this might be too close. Please let me know what to do.
Thanks for your help!

Dear MOB,
Don't be sad about the MOG dress. Black is such a classy and versatile color that by adding accessories you will put yourself apart from the MOG. You are right in the sense that the MOB and MOG dress should compliment eachother, but they should also compliment the bridal party.
First, find out what the MOG dress is going to look like. This way your look is original. Then, accessorize! Use colors that compliment the bridesmaid dresses to accessorize your dress. For example, a beaded handbag, chandalier earrings, or even by wearing a shawl or bolero will make your look different from the MOG.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one as mob who's having issues with mog. She bought her dress before I got the chance;now I feel I have to coordinate with her. It's a destination wedding and her's is less formal than what I had in mind (the bride feels the same) Doesn't the mog defer to the mob who defers to the bridemaids dresses?

You are absolutely right. It is too bad that she didn't. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
