Can the MOB wear a black dress?

The wedding is mid-December at 2:00pm. The bride will wear a white wedding gown. The groom will wear white tuxedo pants, white shirt, and a red vest. The colors for the wedding are red, yellow, and white.

Can the MOB where a sleeveless black dress to her knees from the Black & White Store with a shrug and not feel that she is not following etiquette?

Dear Cannaday,

As long as this isn't strapless and the dress is in the same formality as the bridesmaids, you should be fine. Black is no longer a taboo.

I don't know anything about the black and white store. Sorry.

Best wishes,
