My step son is getting married and his mother refuses to attend and his fiances' mother refuses to attend so I will play both roles. It is a formal wedding. The bride will be in white. The bridesmaids will be wearing long lilac gowns and the guys will have sage green vests with their tuxedo. My husband is wearing a black suit with the sage tie to coordinate with the guys. I have found two dresses I like. The first is a long lilac dress with a sequined, faux 2 piece. and matching jacket. The other is a darker lilac color with some black mixed in knee length with a white jacket. Which do you think would be best?

Dear Arelston,
Most likely the second dress would be best because mothers do not match the bridesmaids' colors, they blend. So, as long as the darker lilac dress is not similar, it will be alright. The dress shouldn't be more formal either. Even though the second is street length, it could be more formal. Choose carefully.
