Ivory Colored Mother of Bride Dress

I am having a small wedding in Maui in August. My mother just recently bought her oufit (a top, skirt, and jacket) and it is ivory. I am fine with her wearing ivory because I am wearing white and the outfit does not look anything like my dress. The mother of the groom already bought her dress, with approval from my mother, several months ago. Though i have not seen it, i know that it is a taupe color. My bridesmaids are wearing aqua. Will the color of my mother's dress look appropriate or will it be too similar to the MOG dress? Our other idea was to have a jacket made in a blue lace (the skirt and top have a lace overlay) to go with the ensemble instead of the jacket that came with it. Any advice would be great because i am getting worried as it gets closer and closer to the wedding.

Dear Dress Dilemma:

Your mother was involved with the purchase of the MOG's attire and that means she knows what the MOG will be wearing. I didn't get from your question that your mother is worried about looking too much like her so you don't have a problem. Your mother's dress will be fine. Ivory and Taupe aren't the same colors and your mother did give her approval so trust that.

It's really too close to the wedding date to start worrying about another attire for your mother. Now is the time where you should be wrapping up details, not creating new ones.

Enjoy and look forward to your wonderful Maui wedding!

Best wishes,

You know what, I wouldn't go through the trouble of having a blue lace jacket made for your mother. The color combination of everyone will look beautiful. Both mothers are in neutral colors which look good with anything. Also, ivory and taupe are two different colors, so you don't have to worry about the MOB and MOG looking too similar.

Have fun at the wedding!
