MOB Dress Color and Style for Christmas Theme Wedding
My daughter's wedding is in Dec. It is a late afternoon wedding with an evening reception. The bride's gown is full skirted with a semi-cathedral train. The bridesmaid's gowns are full length in dark hunter green. The colors are green and gold. They plan on incorporating the Christmas decorations.
My style is very different from the MOG. She is very conservative and I tend toward tie-dye. She has purchased a lovely long black skirt and vibrant purple blazer/top. (We went shopping together dragging the bride with us) I am very unsure about what kind of dress to get and what color would be appropriate for me.
I had hoped to wear a tea length dress, but now I don't want to be the only woman not in a long dress. My daughter has jokingly threatened not admit me if I wear a blazer. Would a wrap be appropriate? I am so confused.

Dear Arrggh,
Your attire should be in the same formality of the mother of the groom. In fact, you should have chosen yours before her and she not dressing more formally than you.
I'm not the fashion expert, but I can advise on some issues. Choose something that isn't revealing or red--big no-no. Full length would be best, but if you can find something that is in the same formality as the other ladies in tea length, you're fine.
Please ask your daughter not to keep her guests waiting too long in between the wedding and the reception. They shouldn't have to wait.
