I'm new here and need a little guidance. Although my DD will be the final decision maker, I'm just looking around on the internet for some ideas as I have plenty of time. Just gathering suggestions, styles, etc. She's busy right now gathering her own ideas for her own dress and her bridal party.
She's having a semi-formal beach wedding. I've always been a single mother and will be giving her away. Her bridesmaids and MOH will be dressed in muted tropical colors (she will have 7 and yes, they will each be in a different color).
Given it's a beach wedding, and the bridal party will be in muted tropical colors (oranges, yellows, greens, etc), any suggestions on the style and color to compliment them as the MOB?
I don't want an "older woman" dress, that's for sure. I had my kids young so I could still be young when they got married.
TIA!

What is DD? Please try to stay away from abbreviations other than the typical MOB or MOH. Thanks. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding! Your dress should be the same formality as MOG and no shorter in length than the bridesmaids' dresses. Color-wise, for a beach wedding, you can use butter yellow; lemon yellow;lime green; seafoam, light blue, light turqoise - depending on the other colors of the wedding and your personal preference. Style-wise, look at the wedding collections at J.Crew-the styles are pretty informal and practically created for a beach wedding. Good luck and enjoy the wedding! Irina Feygin, IMpeccable iMage, Inc. Oh, darling daughter. To me DD is designated driver, so I was completely confused.
You would be coordinating with the attendants, so it is best to wait and see what their dresses are like. Your dress would be the same or slightly less formal than theirs and very conservative--no strapless dresses. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

Yeah - I thought DD referred to a cup size.
Yes, even though we are young mothers, we should not be dressing like the bridesmaids or prom attendants. There are many selections for young looking mother of the bride dresses these days. Designers are really getting that moms want to look and dress age appropriately, yet stylish. I'm sure you'll find just the right gown.
I think we had a post a while back where the bride was embarassed because the mother purchased a dress that looked like a prom dress, so be careful and consider your daughter's feelings as well as your own. The bride should be the center of attention on her wedding day.

Thanks for the replies, and so sorry for the confusion.
No problem with me wearing a strapless dress... nothing to hold it up.

Totally .
But I might just need that Designated Driver !
Thanks again for being here. She keeps changing her mind, so I'll probably be back . Now she's talking about having her bridesmaids in a champagne color. From Easter Eggs in different colors, to now all in Champagne. This is so much fun!
