MOB Dress too sexy and revealing.

Mother of the bride is 46 years old. She's wearing a halter top black dress with white sequins along the plunging neckline and a very high slit up the thigh. My wedding is a black and white themed wedding so I am not upset about the color. Originally, I told her it looked good on her, because it did, but not for my wedding. I was so happy about my dress that I ignored hers. Now, since it was a special order, she says she's not returning it or getting a different one even after I offered to pay for the one she bought that I don't like or buy her a new one. Please let me know what you think. Please Help me. This is a nightmare!

Dear Jesi,

Oh my! It is great that she is in such great shape, but... oh my. Perhaps you could tell her that the more you read the more you feel that she might be embarrassed about her dress. Being embarrassed at your daughter's wedding is most mothers' nightmares, so that may get her attention. Let her know that it is written here and in every etiquette book I can think of that mothers dress modestly at their daughter's weddings.

And perhaps, she could have her dress altered lightly so it can be taken out after the wedding. But, if your wedding is held during the daytime, the sequins wouldn't be appropriate either. All that glitters belongs in the dark.

Best wishes,
