MOB dress color is similar to bridesmaids

My daughter's bridesmaids are wearing floor length, bordeaux colored gowns. My dress color is called boysenberry and is a lighter purple. Is my dress color too similar to the bridesmaid dress color? Is it better to use a complementary color rather than a different shade of the same color?

These color names can be confusing, but as you describe them, your color does seem to be a bit too similar. Try to get something coordinating or complimentary rather than a similar color in another shade.

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding! I totally agree with the Moderator: the color is too similar to the bridesmaids, and as a Mother of the Bride, you have to stand out more. You can opt for any shade of deep bronze/gold tones, which will go extremely well with the bordeaux. Enjoy the wedding!
