My daughter wasn't sure I should wear a cream color gown because she is afraid that people will notice it more than her bright white gown. I told her "impossible" that anyone would ever think that the mother outshined the bride.
Her maid of honor will be in black and bridesmaids in claret *wine*
I was told that the MOG has already purchased her gown and it is gold. (I took note on this board that she should have waited until I purchased mine)
The only gown I could find in all the shops at the mall was a pretty cream with sequins on the top edge of the neckline and on the sleeves of the jacket. The gown is of silky material with netting at the bottom. It is pretty. (I know reading this description it sounds like a bridesmaid or prom dress - but it really doesn't look that way)
All the other gowns I found had huge floral prints and looked to me like *elderly lady* dresses like my mother would wear and others were just plain drab one color long gowns that looked like a sack.
My question really is: Is it okay for me to wear cream?

Re: [Cherdon] MOB in cream color gown?

Dear MOB,
Shades of white are no longer taboo for mothers. However, we would never wear anything that could be worn as a bridesmaid's dress or a wedding dress. Yours sounds as if it could be worn by an older bride. So, I would suggest finding something else. I find many flattering gowns all of the time. Perhaps you could look at stores other than bridal stores.
Plus, sequins are for the evening and are considered formal.
