MOG choose dress in same color as bridesmaids

I am having a small wedding with only 1 attendant. The colors of the wedding are lavendar and pink. Recently the MOG contacted her son and told her that she had purchased a lavendar dress and that although it came in other colors that is the color that she purchased and the bride would just have to live with it. What can I do so that when photographs are taken she does not look like the world's oldest bridesmaid?

Dear Fsolo,

That is unfortunate. I suppose you could ask the photographer to make sure she isn't next to the bridesmaids in the pictures. Maybe he/she can deemphasize the color of the dress in a certain way. These people are good at what they do. But, this is unfortunate. She should have been coordinating with the MOB and not matching the bridesmaids.

Best wishes,

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I agree with Rebecca, it is unfortunate that MOG has purchased the dress in the same color as bridesmaids. However, Lavender shades are not all the same, so hopefully it will not be the exact same color as bridesmaids' dresses. Also, the idea of never positioning her next to bridesmaids in the photos is excellent! You can further "separate" bridesmaids dresses from hers by accessorizing them in uniform color jewelry in darker shades, like Lylac, with Lylac shoes and purses to match. Or, use Pink (in complimentary shade, of course) instead of Lylac to set off the lavender dress. It will immediately look different. Enjoy the wedding!
