     MOG color dress

I now know (from reading questions in this forum and after the MOB called to ask me to wait for her to purchase her dress) that that is "tradition". However, I have also read that both moms can wear the same color (as long as they aren't identical in fabric and hue). We both plan on wearing gowns. While I will wait to hear from the MOB to learn of her gown color/style decision, can I NOT wear navy blue (traditionally I thought for the MOG) even if the MOB winds up with a blue gown? Bridesmaids are in teal and white, bride is in white, men are in tuxes. Summer wedding, early afternoon ceremony in church with reception late afternoon indoors. I don't want to do anything WRONG, but am confused by prior post answers. Thank you for your help.

Dear MOG,

We have always stated that the mothers do not dress in the same, exact color unless the bride wishes them too. Black is a great example of this, since the bride often asks the mothers to both dress in black.

So, any color, except red, is fine as long as it isn't the same exact color as the MOB.

Please dress conservatively and not strapless.

Tuxedos are not appropriate for afternoon events. These are formal evening attire.

Best wishes,
