MOG dress color

The wedding will be at 6:30 pm in January. The bridesmaids are wearing black with periwinkle/lavender shawls. The MOB is wearing dark ivory. Would it be appropriate for me to wear a black chiffon skirt and perhaps a beaded jacket? What colors should be in the jacket? Or should I be looking for another color altogether?

Dear MOG,

It would be better to avoid the black. We shouldn't match the bridesmaids. Try to blend with the MOB without dressing more formally than her.
