HELP! It's a 10 Am outdoor wedding in a rose garden. The bride, who is half Indian, will be wearing a red sari. The bridesmaids will also be in saris of yellow, pink and peach. The MOB said she wanted short, but has now bought a long sage sleeveless dress. I'm a) heavy and b) older than her. I look like death in sage, yellow, peach and most beiges, and I really think long is inappropriate for the time and setting. The few dresses I've found that weren't too bare or too long were dusty pink. What should I do?

Dusty pink is a great color that will go fantastic with the other colors of the wedding! The length, however, is another story. Since MOB is wearing long, maybe you should follow suit. If you are totally against long, you can probably get away with tea length, but no shorter than that. Find a dress in dusty pink that is not too revealing (which is inappropriate for MOB/MOG), and the length you are most comfortable with. Consult with a sales person and have her suggest the most flattering style of the dress for your specific figure. Keep in mind that if you are heavy, the longer the dress the more flattering it will look! Enjoy the wedding! The dusty pink should be just fine - find something flattering, in a length that suits your body type and out of courtesy, run it by the bride. I am sure she wants you to be comfortable and confident as well. Shayna Walker, Williamsburg Wedding Design http://www.williamsburgweddingdesign.com
