MOG wearing brown pant suit. What should MOB wear?
Good Morning Ladies!
My future MIL is wearing a brown pant suit. She asked me if this would be okay, it is what she wore to her daughter's wedding. I know they are strapped right now, so I said this would be fine and I thought the color would work nicely. The problem is my mom has just about blown a gasket (poor mom). She (MOB) had intended on wearing a chocolate tea-length dress and apparently the MOG already knew this. So, should she find another tea-length dress in a different color, go with a pant suit because that’s what the MOG is doing? Also could she wear black?
My wedding is in two weeks. The ceremony begins at 1pm. My bridesmaids are wearing tea-length latté dresses accented in Ivory.
Thank you for your help in advance!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! If the colors that your MIL and your Mom are going to wear are not exactly the same shade (there are many shades of brown!), that's fine, because browns would blend nicely with the bridesmaids' colors. If, however, their intended outfits are of the same exact shade of brown - like chocolate brown - your Mom can get any other shade tea-length dress or pant suit, like bronze, taupe, even light gold to go with your color scheme. I agree. And, as long as the outfits are in the same formality, it really doesn't matter that one wears a pant suit and the other dress. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
