     MOTHER OF GROOM DRESS

My son and his fiance are having an outdoor evening wedding. It is somewhat formal - but nothing for the society column. The bride's mother is wearing a pantsuit, but I am uncomfortable dressing that way for a wedding. Is it alright to wear a long dress?

Dear Mother of the Groom,

Most importantly, you would not want to upstage the mother of the bride. So, if your dress is in the same formality as the pant suit with similar or complimentary colors, you are fine.

Best wishes,

If you feel more comfortable wearing a long dress, go for it.
A nice, semi formal dress will do. Just make sure it isn't too fancy or you might look overdressed.
