Marine Corp Blue Bridesmaids Dress what color for MOB
My daughter is getting married the end of May. She is marrying a Sgt in the Marine Corps and only he will be in dress blues. The bridesmaids will be in a color called Marine Blue and I wanted to know what color I should be in. I have purchased a dress that is chocolate/copper but i think it may be too drab for a spring wedding. The MOG is thinking she wants to wear red - but has not purchased her dress yet either. My daughter wants me in some form of red, but I thought it should be a different shade blue. What are your thoughts?

Congratulations on your daughter's wedding! You have already purchased your dress, and copper color is fine; however you mentioned chocolate copper, which is a bit dark to go with Marine Blue. Frankly, champagne color would look a bit better, but: you can add a little sparkle to your dress by wearing appropriate jewelry and accessories, such as shoes and purse. Gold tone would be great and will brighten up the dress with a little sparkle! As to the red color, you have to be careful with that. The shades that go well with Marine Blue are Burgundy, and all sorts of wine shades. Avoid "red-red" at all costs! If you want to wear blue, it has to be a very light shade, like baby blue, or powder blue, to make a nice contrast in tone but being in the same color family as all the other blues. If you go too dark with blue, that will not look good in photos - too much blue. So there you have all the options - enjoy the wedding! Irina Feygin, IMpeccable iMage, Inc. I have to chime in about red as well. It really is a no-no color, mainly for guests, but it isn't proper for any of us. Of course the bride is the boss her.
Red draws the eye and is a dominant color. We wouldn't want to draw any attention from the bride. This is also why mothers dress conservatively. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
