Mother of Groom Dress Color for Outdoor Evening Wedding in May
My son's wedding is in May, outdoors, at 6:00. The colors are black, bone and yellow accents. Bridesmaids will wear black. MOB has chosen black dress and says for me to wear whatever I would like. I'm thinking black also, maybe a great suit with great heels and a touch of yellow on purse or elsewhere. My sister says I am totally off base with this choice. I thought colors were supposed to blend in or complement with wedding colors. My sister thinks I should wear peach or something with lime accents. What do you think?

Dear Jd,
Usually, your sister would be correct, and definitely isn't wrong, because mothers are not supposed to match the bridesmaid's colors. They are to blend with them. The one exception these days is black. Many brides now prefer all of the women to wear black when they choose this color for their bridesmaids. As long as your black outfit is completely different than the bridesmaids dresses and not more formal than the mother of the bride, you are fine with your choice.
