We have a situation where the mother of the bride was going to take a long time to be able to get her dress, so the bride told the mother of the groom to go ahead and get her dress first. Now the mother of the bride, while perhaps not ready to buy her dress still, wants to get the same color as the dress the mother of the groom purchased. The color in question is periwinkle. The odds are good that the dresses wouldn't be identically colored, although likely close. The styles would also differ. How big of problem is this and what should be done about it?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Dear punjab,
The mother of the bride and mother of the groom should try not to wear the same color. If the mother of the bride has not made a selection, she should be advised that her dress should a color other than periwinkle.
