Bride-to-be

     Mother of the Bride

We are planning a formal wedding (starting at 5pm) in Manhattan. My wedding gown is white and our wedding colors are wine red, light pink and green (the bridal party will wear wine red and the groom will wear a green vest).

My mother has suggested a strange blue/green color for her dress - would this work? And if not, please specify a few other colors that would.

I've noticed that you often suggest for the Mother of the Groom to wear black - isn't this too morbid? (I know she's "loosing" her son, but it's no funeral! Wink) Could you please suggest some colors for her dress and would it be acceptable for me to mention those suggestions to her? (I don't want her to think that I doubt her dress-style!)

Dear Bride,

Actually black is chic, not morbid. So either mother could wear it. The only way to know if your mother's color will blend is to match it with your green.

Silver and platinum seem to be very popular colors for mothers and would blend well.

Best wishes,
