Mother of the Bride and Groom Dresses

We are having a fairly formal wedding, and the bridesmaids are wearing "dusty-rose" colored strapless, tea-length dresses. What type of dress would you suggest for the mother of the bride to wear, and then also, how similar should the mother of the groom be? Thanks for any help!!

Dear Jaime,

The mothers should dress in the same formality as the bridesmaids. Your dresses should be conservative, however and not strapless. Many colors blend with dusty rose. So, just look for a dress in a color that blends well.

The mother of the groom should coordinate with the mother of the bride without dressing more formally than her. The color of her dress should blend, not match.

Best wishes,

Thank you for your reply. I am wondering though, did you mean that the mother of the bride should not be strapless, or the bridesmaids. If you meant the bridesmaids, is there a reason why they shouldn't wear strapless dresses?

No, the mothers shouldn't wear strapless dresses, for the obvious reasons. Smile
