My daughter will be married August 8 in a 4:00 beach wedding. The bridesmaids are wearing tea length truffle colored dresses with a flowing hemline. The groomsmen are wearing khaki pants and blue shirts. I have purchased 2 dresses. One is a chocolate dress, knee length. I have not seen the bridesmaids dresses but my daughter says that it is a similar color and material, but a different design. She likes this dress choice. I also purchased a pale pink 3 piece ensemble, also knee length. It is a dressy material with brocade like flowers throughout the skirt. It is more tailored than the first, but it is a color that I feel very comfortable in. I am confused as to which is more appropriate. The second choice gives a better contrast to the bridesmaids dresses but is it too staid for a beach wedding? Patricia

Dear Patricia,
There may be a problem with both. If the color of the brown dress is the same as the bridesmaids, it may appear the you are one of them. The pink dress is a very good color, but may be more formal than the bridesmaids. So, it is best for you to look at the bridesmaids' dresses.
You want a conservative dress that blends with theirs and in the same formality.
