My son is getting married in September and I have been waiting for the mother of the bride to purchase her attire. She has just purchased formal slacks (flared, glitter, brown). It is an evening wedding and the bridesmaids are wearing champagne, the groomsmen black. Suggestions for my attire? I have a full length black skirt that I could pair with a jacket. Would this be inappropriate?

Dear Lchlumsky,
You should be fine as long as the formality is the same between the MOB's attire and yours and the bridesmaids are wearing full length dresses. But, even if the bridesmaids's dresses are tea length, as long as your dress isn't more formal than theirs, it should not matter that yours is long. Most likely you will be fine. It is all about trying to match formality.
