     Mother of the Groom Color

Hi there,

I am getting married in an outdoor ceremony and reception in September at a small winery. My dress is ivory and my bridesmaids fell in love with a tea length dress in black. Not my ideal color but it really is very cute and goes so well with my dress. I've decided to dress it up with a mocha ribbon and brooch.

Our flowers will be shades of ivory, taupes (Sahara roses), dark plums and rose colors (with any luck!)

The MOB will be wearing a tea length aubergine dress. The MOG has selected a dress and would like my help in picking out the color. I am thinking roses or berries or neutrals would work. Are there any other colors you could see working (blue, pink, greens, etc.)?

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Rose and berries as well as neutrals like taupe would be great choices for MOG, but you can also look inot Mocha since your bridesmaids dresses will be trimmed in that color; besides, it's in the same depth of color as Aubergine, as opposed to lighter shades that might be a bit off-balance against Aubergine or Black. Enjoy the wedding!

I just found out she likes a blue dress. It sounds like a cobalt blue. I think this is too bright and not in keeping with the color scheme of the wedding. Would you agree? Or should I agree with the blue dress she has chosen?

The most important thing is not to hurt her feelings. First, check out the actual color of the dress. If it's not too bright, it just might work. If she accessorizes the deep blue dress with bronze-tone accessories-handbag, shoes - it will tie the colors together. Good luck and enjoy the wedding!
