     Mother of the Groom attire

My son is getting married in June. The bride is wearing ivory and all attendants are wearing black. The mother of the bride has chosen a long black dress. Could I also wear black (love the slimming effect) or should I choose another color. If so, what would you suggest.

Dear Mother of the Groom,

It is best if you, as well as the mother of the bride, do not wear the same color as the bridal party. However, since the mother of the bride has chosen to wear the black of the bridesmaids, I'd suggest a soft neutral shade such as a taupe or tan if you chose to avoid the black.
