My stepson is getting married in the early afternoon in a winter (outdoor) wedding. We live in Texas so we should expect temperatures in the 60s. The bride is wearing a silver/gray dress and the groom and groomsmen are not wearing tuxedos. Should I wear a tea-length dress and would a bronze or chocolate color be appropriate? I am tall and wear a size 10-12. I would prefer to wear a floor-length dress, but am not sure if it would be appropriate under the circumstances. I would also not feel comfortable asking the mother of the groom what she plans to wear. I believe the mother of the bride is wearing a deep shade of pink. I would appreciate any advice on colors and length of dress to wear.

Dear Groomstepmom,
Unless you are being treated as one of the mothers (seated as special), you would be dressed as one of the guests. Even if you are treated as one of the mothers, it is best to find out what both mothers are wearing. The mother of the bride sets the tone. It wouldn't be polite to dress more formally than either one of them.
