     Pantyhose or not for MOG

My son is being married in August and I have found a knee-length dress of which his fiancee and family approve. One of my friends says that no one, even for a wedding, wears hose with strappy sandals. I have always been taught that the proper attire for a formal occasion is pantyhose. What is your advice?

No hose with sandals or any shoe where toes can be seen. Please use the search to see that this question has been answered before and in more detail.
