Purple MOG dress - did I mess up?

We have a complicated wedding situation. My son is marrying a precious girl who is essentially an orphan. Her aunt and Grandmother are standing in for her mother. The Grandmother is wearing beige and the aunt is still looking for a dress. The dark champagne dress that I ordered has now been put on backorder until after the wedding. I am very difficult to fit and have had a terrible time finding another dress, but found a formal, deep purple gown that fits and is beautiful. The bride likes the dress and is easy about whatever I would like to do, but I am concerned that "purple" will draw too much attention. After I ordered it, I saw that there is a coffee-colored gown in the same style. Should I send it back and order the other one?

The coffee-colored gown sounds fantastic. If there is a chance for you to replace it, go for it! Enjoy the wedding!

I agree. If the bridesmaids were all wearing very vibrant colors, it wouldn't be as much of an issue. But, not knowing if they are, and the fact that the grandmother is wearing a neutral, it is best to go with something that is also somewhat neutral.
