Should MOB wear long or tea-length dress

Help! My daughter's wedding is at 6:00 p.m. The colors are black, silver and pink. I have purchased a shiny gray (sort of silver looking) long dress. The bridesmaids are wearing black tea length dresses (men in tuxedos). Should I leave my dress long because it is an evening wedding or have it shortened to tea length to match the bridesmaid's length? My dress would look fine at either length but I want to make sure I do the "right" thing.

Dear Veronica,

Mothers match the formality of the bridesmaids, and one of those elements is length. But, it is only one element of formality. So, if your dress is the same formality you should be fine.

In many cases it is probably better shorter though.

Best wishes,
