Step-MOB with MOB being MOH - Dress Attire

The MOB is the MOH. The wedding colors are Red, Black, & White. Bridesmaids in Black Halter dresses. The flowers being Dark Red Roses. The only thing I know about the MOG is that she might be wearing gold shoes. This is evening wedding starting at 6. I am part of the wedding party and I am worried about what to wear. I have tried asking my stepdaughter what the MOG is wearing, but she says she does not know. We are running out of time because the wedding is at the end of the month. Any suggestions on what I should wear? I was thinking floor length. Either black skirt with like mocha, burgandy, or silver top or a full outfit of one of these colors. Appropriate?

Dear Stepmother,

Typically stepmothers dress as one of the guests unless she is seated as one of the mothers. You say that you are part of the bridal party. If you are being seated as one of the mothers, you could wear a dress in the same length and formality as the bridesmaids. The colors you mention would be fine.

If you are not being seated as one of the mothers, it may be best to wear a cocktail dress or a nice suit.

Best wishes,

Best wishes,
