     Step Mother of Groom Attire

My step son is getting married this weekend and I need help. The Bridesmaids are wearing black, the groomsmen, black and ivory. The mother of the Bride is wearing a "blue," I don't know which shade because they won't give me an answer. (The bride and her mother both hate me.) Would it be acceptable if I wore a champange dress? I will be given a flower and in the pictures.

Dear Stepmother,

This is very last minute.

Champagne would be fine. But, please do not dress more formally than the mother of the bride. Perhaps you could ask your stepson how formal the mother of the bride's dress is.

Best wishes,

Thank you for your input. I apologize for the last minute question, however, I've tried several times to speak with the MOB and the Bride regarding my dress to no avail. I've asked my stepson how formal the MOB would be and he has no idea. I don't believe my dress will out-do the MOB, and sincerely hope that it won't.

Thanks again.
