Our daughter is getting married in June at 10:00 am in an outdoor ceremony (depending on the weather). The entire event will be over by 2:00 pm. She is wearing a long, strapless satin dress with train and beadwork. The bridesmaids will be in black strapless, cotton knee-length dresses trimmed in white piping across the top and a black and white buckle type belt (somewhat casual). The flower girls will be in red kimonos. The groom and his attendants will be in plain black suits with red ties. The MOB is wearing a floor-length black and white quarter-size polka dot dress with spaghetti straps. The MOG has not yet chosen her dress. My stepchildren lived with us from the time they were 10 & 11. I am very close to the bride, and she has been introducing to me as "also the mother of the bride". I have been looking for a tea-length dress in black. Would this be a good choice? What are other possibilities? Could a black dress with red accents work or is that too close to wedding party? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes the bride wants the mothers to wear black when she has her bridesmaids wearing it. It is the only time mothers dress in the same color. So, you could ask her if she wants this type of consistency. Typically though, you would blend with the MOB. Red wouldn't be a good choice.
