Tea length for mother of groom

Bridesmaids are wearing long dark purple (lapis). The mother of bride has chosen knee length black dress with sheer jacket.
I was told at bridal store that, as mother of groom, I can wear whatever length I prefer. I found a champagne gold long dress lots of scalloped layers that can be altered. Is tea length or a bit longer okay? I found a 2nd choice a jackieo type knee length that is off white with gold stitching all over dress and very short jacket.

Your dress should match MOB dress in formality. Go for the same length as she is wearing. Champagne gold sounds like a better choice than off white, which could clash with the brides' color. Enjoy the wedding!
