Two Dresses for Mother of Groom

My sons wedding will take place in June at 1:00p.m. in a church. The reception won't take place until 5:30 in the evening in an outdoor area of a country club. Should I have two different outfits, one for the wedding and one for the reception?

Dear Ptrapp,

This really is a personal decision. But, if both of the events are the same formality, one dress is fine. The biggest problem is that it isn't polite to the guests to have a gap this huge between the two events. The wedding and reception should be scheduled closer together. If this isn't possible, the couple should have something scheduled for their guests for the time in between while they wait. It is important for them to remember that when they invite guests, they are hosts.

Best wishes,
