My step-son married a girl we didn't know before he was shipped to Iraq. They are planning a big family wedding in November. The wedding will be where he will be living with his wife and because of this, I can not get with her mother. His mother lives in Alaska and so there is no getting with her. Because of this situation, I was wondering what the step-mother is suppose to do since the mothers are suppose to pick their dresses first and then the step-mother. If I wait too long, I will not have much choice in color because of the colors of the wedding.

Your stepson is already married. So, we cannot give advice for an event which is not appropriate. Top Wedding Questions Forum Moderator - "Write your sorrows in the sand, your blessings in stone".

Absolutely! Please ask your husband to speak to his son. This is not proper, appropriate, and viewed very negatively by most everyone. It would be a pity for him to be embarrassed once he finds out what others have said about it all. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
