My younger son married May 08. My older son became engaged May 09 and planning to marry Aug 09. Would it be improper to wear the same dress as several unforseen financial situations have occurred?

I don't see a problem with wearing the same dress as long as it is the right formality and color.
If this dress doesn't work you can look at Chadwick's which has some really affordable MOB dresses. Also check your local department stores or discount chains like Daffy's to see if they carry formal dresses. Another suggestion is to visit some consignment shops. They often have formal wear, though it's a bit harder to find dresses in just the right size or color, but it's worth the time. Excellent advice! And keep in mind that you can also "re-dress" your current dress and make it almost unrecognizable by changing accessories. Add a different color shawl with matching shoes and purse - and you already have a new outfit! Just a little creativity - different jewelry, different jacket if one goes with the dress - can make all the difference! Irina Feygin, IMpeccable iMage, Inc. Image and Beauty and For Princess Bride

Great advice. I agree that if the color and formality is the same, it should be fine. Remember that the bride's mother typically chooses her dress first. So, check in with her and the bride. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
