Wearing the same color as the mother of the bride

Is it okay for the mother of the groom to wear the same color of dress as the mother of the bride? Maybe a different fabric would give the color a different look?

Dear Same Color,

Not really. If they both wore the same exact color, they could look like bridesmaids. She can wear a dress with some of the same color in it, such as a pattern. They should just compliment each other.

I agree with Rebecca.

The dresses can compliment each other but should not be the same color exactly.

The best thing to do would be to discuss this with the Mother of the Bride as well as the Grooms Mother and see how they feel and if a compromise can be reached.

Best Wishes
