I am the step mom of the bride and I'm not sure what color to wear. The bride' mother is wearing a latte (light brown). The wedding color is an island blue. The wedding is at 4:00 in November, at the beach.
I know I should match formality of their dresses, but should I wear a color in the brown family or should I wear a complimentary color? And, what would that be? What about a wine or an emerald?

Wine or emerald are nice colors but they would stand out too much, since there are no connection between these colors and the overall colors of the wedding. You might want to go for elegant deep bronze, gold tones or beiges. Or, you can go for light blue tones, like powder blue. This will also fit in very well with the overall wedding colors and will look nice and elegant. Enjoy the wedding! And, please remember to dress conservatively--no strapless dresses. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now

I'm glad you said that! I was actually thinking of a stapless with a wrap.
Thanks!

I so glad we could be of assistance. Many do not realize that strapless gowns are a no-no for moms. So, you are in good company. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Now
