     What should MOG wear?

My son is getting married in October. It is an informal morning wedding. Future daughter-in-law is wearing a long dress but the guys are wearing nice jeans, brown shirts and shoes. The girls are wearing tea length dresses in brown and sage green. MOB is wearing a black tea length dress with white trim and a sweater. I have no idea what to wear! My husband is performing the ceremony. He is wearing a suit with open collared shirt and no tie (per my son).

Dear Gammie,

This sounds like a very informal wedding. So, it would seem like you could wear what you would to a very nice restaurant and be dressed fine. You could wear a black dress, which is the only time we dress in the same color as the mother of the bride--black is an exception. Stay away from dressing in the same exact colors as the attendants and no red or anything too bright.

If it were me, I'd choose something very conservative, in the same formality as the mother of the bride, and in a neutral color.

Best wishes,
