What will Stepmother of the groom and FOG wear?

What I know so far... May 6 pm outside wedding. Bridemaids are wearing long sleeveless black dresses, and Groomsmen are wearting. Colors are black, white, and hot pink. I was told MOB is wearing black dress with white pearl beads (don't know the length, but suspect tea length). MOG is wearing either silk golden suit or silk black suit. I think I am being considered a part of the wedding as we are planning the rehearsal dinner together (MOG and SMOG). Will it be okay for me to wear a black tea length dress (polyester with lace capped sleeves). FOG is not part of the bridal party, but I think he should wear a tux with black tie. Thanks for your help.

Dear Step MOG,

It is best to find out if you are being seated as special before dressing as one of the mothers. If not, you would be dressed as one of the guests. If so, the black dress would be fine as long as it is not more formal than the other two mothers. Although mothers are not typically dressed in the same color as the bridesmaids, many like for all to dress in black when that color is chosen.

The tux would be fine as long as all of the men are wearing a tux. He would dress the same as all of them even though he doesn't have any 'official' duty. But, for future, please post questions about men's attire in the proper category, not under women;s attire. Thank you.

Best wishes,
