     can mom wear black?

I am getting married in July. It will be a very formal evening ceremony. Bridesmaids dresses are strapless and floor length. The color is wisteria (or victorian lilac at davids bridal). I am wearing an ivory, strapless dress with amethyst beads and cathedral train.

My mom and I have found a dress for her that we both love and want to know, is it appropriate for her to wear black? She wears burgandy uniform to work everyday and does not want to wear something in that color family. The black dress looks very elegant on her. I have no problems with her wearing it, but I'm concerned that other people might have opinions. What is proper?

Also, what would be an appropriate color for MOG?

Black is fine for your mother to wear. It is 2005, and many MOB wear black. Black is a classic that always looks elegant and formal. She should definitely get the dress if it fits good and looks great.

As for the MOG, it really depends on what color she feels comfortable in. There are a few colors that would compliment your bridal party. She could wear a shade of purple, as long as it isn't the same as your bridesmaid dresses. Choosing a lighter or darker version of wisteria would look very chic. She could also try pink, which is a romantic and flirty color. Navy blue is always a great color, too. It is sophisticated and looks great on many women and their skin tone.

I hope my suggestions help. Have fun planning the wedding.

Good luck,
