     length,style,color

Evening wedding is coming up very soon with last minute attire changes. After mothers of bride and groom bought floor-length dress suits, ivory and blue, respectively, length and color for bridesmaids were changed from floor-length to knee-length blue. Bride is wearing long white with blue ribbon. Mother of groom's dress was now similar color as new bridesmaids' dresses, but bride liked the idea of an all blue and ivory/white wedding. Mother of bride just changed her color and style to blue silk pantsuit - in similar blue shade of all. Should mother of groom alter her dress to tea -length from floor-length to be more in keeping with the bridesmaids' over-the-knee length dresses and mother of bride's new blue pantsuit? Should mother of groom select different color? Bride and mother like the idea of all in blue. Mother of bride said to select whatever length I liked. Advice on what would look best in length, color, and style.

Probably the tea length would be better if this is not a formal affair, which it sounds as if it isn't. And, if they like the blue, go for it.

But, I would make sure that the bride won't change her mind again before purchasing anything else.

Last minute??? This is stressful, huh?

Dear MOG,

Since all of these changes have been made, why make things more complicated. MOG, if you like the dress the way it is, then keep it long. It isn't like you are going to be the only one at the wedding with a floor length dress. Unless the bride wants you to wear the dress as a tea length, then my suggestion to you is to wear whatever length you like best on you. As long as the colors compliment each other, which they do, then you are all fine and will look picture-perfect at the wedding. It is understandable that different style dresses and lengths look best on different people, so MOG you are fine with a long dress and you are fine with a tea length dress. Again, as long as the bride doesn't have any objections, wear the style that you feel most beautiful in.

Good luck,

The only problem would be if your dress is more formal than the mother of the bride's outfit. This would be a faux pas. So, scrutinize your dress before making this decision.
