My daughter is getting married at 10 AM in July in Northern VA. It's an outdoor wedding. Her bridesmaids dresses are a pale grey green. It's called peridot but it's not the semi precious stone's color. A pale pink is an accent color. Her dress is a ivory/off white color. I'm overweight with an apple shape and dark hair with touches of grey. I'm trying to loose weight but realisticly I won't loose much. I want to spend around $150 for the dress. I'm thinking a soft drapey material or a shantung that is short or tea length. I look best in jewel tones and most of the dresses I've seen are black. What color would go best with my daughter's colors? She doesn't want me to wear black or a real dark color. She was thinking taupe or latte color. What style of dress would go best with my apple shape? Thank you for your help.

You have a few months before the wedding and theoretically you could loose a dress size (at least) before then. I had great success with The South Beach Diet which is a really healthy way of loosing weight AND getting great nutrition. My mother-in-law (I won't say her age but she's a senior citizen saw her cholesterol go down to 170 on this plan. Our doctors say is is nutritionally sound too.
I know this doesn't answer your question but I wanted to share this with you since I've struggled with my weiight all my life and found this to be the one plan that worked for me.

Excellent advise from the Forum Modrator! As to the dress itself: Tea length would look much better on you than a shorter length; silvery gray color would go well with the bridesmaids' dress colors but you can certainly wear taupe or latter if they are your daughters' suggestions. Soft drapey material is a great idea, and you can find a good dress in your price range at Special Occasion sections of major department stores. As a side note, my husband lost a lot of weight in a short period of time by quitting bread, sweet fruits and sweets altogether, without any other diet restrictions. It worked! The basis of The South Beach Diet is cutting out all the processed foods so white bread, white rice, baked goods and anything containing refined flours and sugars.
