mog dress

My son will have a formal wedding. MOB will be in a gown. I would like to wear a dressy pant suit. Is this appropriate?

Dear MOG,

I'm guessing not. I would really have to see the pant suit. But, I'm guessing that the pant suit couldn't compare in formality to the MOG's gown. You will really have to be the judge here. Your outfit should be in the same formality, style, and coordinating color as the MOB without upstaging her.
