My son's wedding is going to be outside in May 2006. The bride is wearing white and the moh is wearing a long burgandy dress. The men will be wearing black tuxes. The bride wants her mother and I to wear the same dress!! and did want burgandy. Her mother has bought a pink tea length dress. Would a navy tea length be okay for me to wear. Also, isn't this a little early to having to decide on a dress? I would like to wait until spring but don't know how to tactfully convey this to the bride.
Typically, the MOB would choose her dress and you would choose one that compliments it. It should blend in color and should be the same formality and length. Plus, it is definitely not the same dress. Actually hers should have been long if the MOH's was. But, this is neither here nor there.
The navy may not be the best choice. The MOB is in pink, which I'm hoping looks good with the burgundy--might. So, yours should blend with the pink color.
It is early to be purchasing a dress. So much could change by next May. I would wait.
