mog dress off the shoulder style

My son's wedding is a 6PM formal late spring wedding with reception outside under a tent. I've read that no strapless mog gowns should be worn. The mob is wearing tiny straps or off the shoulder small sleeves in either blue or champagne. The attendants are wearing dark pink. Would a silver, simple floor length gown with tiny straps be appropriate?

Thanks

Dear Bmjdec,

Mothers are supposed to dress conservatively and not compete with the bride. Off the shoulder is probably not going to work. But, sometimes we wear dresses with spaghetti straps when the weather is very warm and we don't appear to be falling out of the dress--no clevage.

So, if your dress is conservative and you don't appear to be advertizing for a bra company, then your dress should be fine.

Oh, and your dress shouldn't be more formal than the MOB's.

Best wishes,
