My daughter is getting married June 11,2005.Her bridesmaid dresses are black, the mother of the groom is wearing black & my daughter wants me to wear black as well. The Bride's dress is white & she thinks everyone will wear black & white. Would it be appropriate for me(MOB) to wear black? If not what color would be good? It is an evening wedding!

Dear MOB,
If your daughter wants you to wear black and stick with the theme, then that is what I would do. Black is always a great choice because there are so many beautiful styles that are available in black, so you have more options. Black is a very classic and formal look, which is good for a wedding, especially a formal one.
If she doesn't care what color you wear, then it is up to you. Traditionally the MOB and MOG dresses compliment the bridal party. Since they are wearing black, and black matches everything...you really go with any color. My suggestion is to pick your favorite color and the one that makes you glow. You will want a color that compliments your hair and skin tone, and that makes you feel beautiful and comfortable in at the same time. Great colors this summer are peach, champagne, celadon/sage green, gold, pale blue, soft pink, and lavender. You could coordinate the color of your dress with the rest of the color scheme, the flowers, etc.
