Yes, this is stressful because you wouldn't want to upstage the mother of the bride. So, you wouldn't want to wear the long dress. It would appear more formal than the MOB's dress. Scrutinize both dresses from the point of view of not wanting to upstage her and you will make the right decision.
Actually, the first one sounds a little better to me because it is in better colors for the event. You would blend better in the pictures. Sometimes cream doesn't look as good as some other colors next to white. Only you will be able to make this choice though.
